It Just Is

October 26th, 2023

At times we look back
Taking strolls through shelves filled with dusty memories
Images once treasured and tended with care, now left to fade
A fate worse than death, because our love and our hate gave you life
You fed off of the energy devoted to emotion, the time we spent tending those memories neatly filed

Now we’ve moved on, leaving you starving for us and our energy
We don’t need you, don’t need those memories filled with bittersweet longing
We have a new story to write, and we like this one much more
Someone else can stay in the archives, relive old times with old relationships
Our life isn’t based off of your absence
Our heart isn’t grown off of your hate
And that’s the fate you dreaded the most
