Wait, Who Are We?

December 21st, 2023

We’re a watcher and a worrier
Someone who has ruined everything a thousandfold
And children who want to live their lives
We’re beings craving life beyond the everyday
And those condemned to crawling in the memories
Daily news is just a normal maelstrom
Hiding from news streams because everything is worse

We just went to live our life
But life is reduced to just surviving
What’s life like somewhere else?
Is it greener on the other side, or is everyone surviving?

I want to be the best
But it seems like the best has never been
Seeing scales of the worst and worse
How do we pick the best?
I want to live life, want to share a life unmet before
But it seems we’re reduced to survival, waiting for the next moment to breath as we continue the struggle

We aren’t alone, we’re all in the same boat
Can we change the current or is it heading for a breaker?
Wanting to change the course, breathing monoxide because oxygen is hard to come by
Maybe we’ll have a tale of triumph, or maybe we’ll be a historical warning
There to educate others who come in our footsteps
Hopefully they listen to history, because it feels like our cries fell on deaf ears
